The Survey Said...
Okay, so I was returning from a wake and as I get in the door, the phone rings. I hear an automated message about an "election survey" that will take 3 minutes. I think to myself that I'll give it a whirl even if is going on 800pm. So the questions were asked if I voted for President, Governor, Lt. Governor today, who would I vote for. I answered them. In the question for Senator, we have Dole and someone else.I said I would vote for Dole. Next question: Are you registered a Republican, or unaffiliated? I purposely chose unafilliated. Next question: Which of these issues is most important to you? I didn't get to pick the three that I always tell people should be a rule of thumb if they are "apolitical"(groan!). The issues were Iraq, education, taxes, economy and jobs, morals and values. I picked Iraq licketysplit. Because I figured it was a biased poll. The next question I got confirmed my answer....Are you a woman? I get why they do surveys. So they can figure out who they need to target. But I resent that it is not a fair representation if they are only going to use it to say who will be the favored ones in this state. Am I just being paranoid? I hung up after the 'woman' question because I was ticked off. I hate surveys unless they are for a radio station and if you are going to torture me at length, please feel free to pay me for my valuable evening time. What would you guys have done?
